Director - Chemistry Scientific Due Diligence
About the Role
Major accountabilities:
Your responsibilities will involve, but are not limited to:
• Chemistry Subject Matter Expertise: Act as the primary chemistry expert on deal teams, providing informed guidance and deep technical insight throughout the due diligence process.
• Lead Search and Evaluation: Identify, assess, and prioritize external industrial opportunities and academic collaborations relevant to BR and GDC’s strategic objectives.
• Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Identify and objectively evaluate potential risks associated with prospective assets, including scientific, technical, and developmental risks; propose feasible risk mitigation strategies to support informed decision-making.
• Stakeholder Management: Effectively engage and communicate with diverse stakeholders across GDC, BR, and Novartis to ensure alignment and transparency throughout the asset evaluation and acquisition process.
• Portfolio Impact: Drive the acquisition of high-quality assets, contributing directly to the strategic growth and competitiveness of the BR and Novartis global portfolio.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, leveraging expertise across drug discovery, chemistry, biology, and business functions to deliver comprehensive asset
Minimum Requirements
Education: Ph.D. in Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry
• Experience: 10+years’ experience in drug discovery, with a strong track record in evaluating small molecule and other modality assets within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
• Expertise: Demonstrated proficiency in scientific due diligence, risk assessment, and mitigation strategies for drug discovery projects.
• Agility & Complexity Management: Proven ability to navigate complex scientific and organizational environments, adapting quickly to changing priorities and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with experience managing and influencing stakeholders across global organizations.
• Global Perspective: Experience working in or leading global teams, with a clear understanding of the challenges and opportunities in a multinational environment
